An Exploratory Study on the Role of Performance Evaluation in Future Telecollaboration Environments

Emerging Telecollaboration (TC) environments are part of the major interactive multimedia initiatives that will pave the way for high-speed interactivity among the geographically separated groups of people and businesses. It is realized that best use of the interactive power of a Telecollaboration business system could potentially shape any process and outcome focused business through the use of people’s collective knowledge and experience integrated into business infrastructure. A TC environment with its unpredictable traffic bursts of the ever changing and dynamic intensity brings new challenges to the overall performance evaluation. The goal of this paper is to provide intuitive insight into the performance evaluation process that needs to be undertaken when analyzing future Internet-based telecollaboration environments. Throughout this work it is emphasized that provision of in-depth understanding of a quantitative and pragmatic approach plays a fundamental role in the performance analysis. The focus of this study is to provide the comprehensive overview of relationship between users perceived Quality of Experience (QoE) and overall system Quality of Service (QoS) for the achievement of the total Telecollaboration Quality of Service (TQoS) considering scope and depth of complex TC environments.
